Julie Dorney
Julie is a full time veterinary assistant
working towards her Veterinary Technician designation. Julie recently received
a scholarship from Oxbow Animal Health for her interest in exotic medicine.
She started at Campus Estates Animal
Hospital in early 2005 as a part-time Veterinary Assistant earning a promotion
to Supervisor – Vet Assistants, in 2007. One of Julie’s many responsibilities
is controlling the inventory at the clinic, the importance of which is always
noticed when she takes a vacation!
Julie has a strong passion for small pocket
pets and shares her home with three guinea pigs, six rabbits, an Australian
bearded dragon, an Illigers Macaw and an Irish Wolfhound. Julie has fostered
many small pockets and works and supports the work of Rabbit Rescue. She enjoys
spending time with family and visiting her trailer near Turkey Point.
Melissa Ruf
Melissa started out as a client 15 years
ago with her ferrets and her deaf boxer Archiebald, aka “the meathead,” whose
frequent trips to the clinic made him a well-known visitor. Archie also
inspired a strong belief in pet insurance for those times that extra care is
required, and at the clinic Melissa has been a strong advocate. She joined us
in the fall of 2007 as a Veterinary Assistant and currently shares her life
with three cats, two dogs and usually a spare creature or two.
Mishka Gonsalves
Mishka has been working at Campus Estates
Animal Hospital as an assistant and receptionist since February 2007. She is in
her third year of vet school at OVC (Ontario Veterinary College) and will
continue to apply the practical skills and knowledge gained while working at
Campus Estates in her future career. After graduation she hopes to specialize
in small animal surgery. Outside of school and work, Mishka enjoys hockey and
playing with her many Chihuahuas: Candy, Tito, Tia and the newest edition,
Brutus.
Kendra Liteplo
Kendra joined the Campus Estates team in
September of 2008. She is currently attending the University of Guelph and is
in her fourth and final year of her bachelor degree in biological science.
While not in school or working, Kendra enjoys reading, intramural sports and
spending time with her friends. While Guelph is now Kendra’s full-time home,
her family resides in her hometown of Ottawa, as well as her furry best friend,
a nine-year-old golden retriever by the name of Parker.
Ashley Williamson-Landry
Ashley came to Guelph in 2002 after
completing her degree in Animal Biology. She is currently working on a Master's
degree in immunology with a thesis focusing on diabetes in dogs. Ashley has
been working at Campus Estates Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant since
August 2008. She enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, hosting games nights and
baking. She has five wonderful animals - three cats (Petri, Fred and Seven), a
dog (Scully) and a bearded dragon (Dr.Pepper).
Katie Morin
Katie joined the Campus Estates Animal
Hospital team in September 2007. She has both Veterinary Assistant and
reception responsibilities, and especially enjoys her emergency on-call work and
all of the learning experiences that come with it. Katie is in her second year
at OVC (Ontario Veterinary College). She hopes to practice in companion animal
medicine after graduation. Outside of school and clinic time, Katie enjoys
jogging and playing intramural sports such as soccer and hockey. She especially
loves spending time with her family, friends and her cat Felicity (at home in
Ottawa), as well as her housemate`s pets whom she adores like her own. Overall,
Katie loves living, working and studying in Guelph and is proud to call it her
second home.
Kathleen Yates
Kathleen joined the Campus Estates Animal
Hospital team as a volunteer in 2007 and started in 2009 as a Veterinary Assistant.
As a recent graduate of the University of Guelph and a current student at the
Ontario Veterinary College, her role at the hospital keeps her on her toes
caring for a variety of species while constantly learning from our assistants,
technicians and veterinarians. In her spare time she keeps busy coaching soccer
and teaching downhill skiing. She enjoys camping in Algonquin Park with her
family and friends while taking every opportunity to ski out west. Her extended
family includes her chocolate lab Maggie, and guinea pig Guinness.
Adrienne Gosse
Adrienne joined the Campus Estates Animal
Hospital team during the summer of 2006. Initially working as a volunteer she
was hired on a Veterinary Assistant the following summer. Adrienne has
completed her undergraduate degree in biology with a major in animal biology.
Currently she is finishing up her Master's degree in animal behavior and
welfare, where she is working with cheetahs from the African Lion Safari.
Adrienne is hoping to determine the impact of dominance on reproductive success
in captive male cheetah groups. She enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing
and rock climbing, as well as spending time with her three pets – a 12-year-old
female Himalayan named Orion, and her two male pet rats, Theodore and JGM4.
Amanda Rosborough
Amanda grew up on a Limousin Beef farm with
horses near Peterborough and graduated from St. Lawrence College with an RVT,
RLAT in 2006. While working part-time at Campus Estates Animal Hospital she
also works at Woodbine Racetrack and the Ontario Veterinary College in Small
and Large Animal Sciences. She is currently enrolled at OVC. Amanda has two
loveable Boston Terriers named Toby and Rudy, and a Friesian Cross Filly named
Darbi.
