Best Bet Diet for Cats
Ingredients:
1/2 lb ground meat (turkey, chicken, lamb,
beef)
1/2 hardboiled egg
1/2 oz clams, chopped in
juice
4 tsp canola oil
Directions:
You must add a feline multi vitamin with calcium to this recipe. Follow the directions on the label. We recommend Rx Essentials for cats (sold at Campus Estates
Animal Hospital). This is an all natural vitamin. Other supplements can be added as needed for arthritis,
liver problems etc. For variation you can try 5 oz of salmon or tuna
packed in water without salt instead of the ground meat.
This diet provides a 10 lb cat with 1.5 days worth of nutrition. This recipe
can be made in batches and frozen in smaller portions.
Best Bet Diet for Dogs
Ingredients:
One of the following: 3 hardboiled eggs or 1 cup 2% cottage cheese or
1/3 lb (pre-cooked weight) cooked chicken, turkey, beef or other meat source.
1/2 cup of lightly steamed or raw
veggies
2 Tbsp of sardines in tomato sauce
2 cups of long grain cooked brown rice or potato with skin
2 Tbsp of canola oil

recipe can be made in batches and frozen in smaller portions.
Hearty Snack
Ingredients:
1 beef
heart
1 tsp. garlic (fresh ground - do not use garlic SALT)
Directions:
1. Boil beef heart until the meat is very rare. Let cool.
2. Cut into very thin strips and place strips on cookie sheet. Sprinkle lightly
with garlic powder.
3. Bake at 200F for 2-3 hours or until strips are very dry.
Helpful Hint - these make great treats...and you can substitute the beef
heart with chicken hearts if you prefer. You can freeze these treats
too.
Liver Treats
Ingredients:
Beef Liver
(flattened)
1 tsp. garlic (fresh ground - do not use garlic SALT)
Fresh parsley
Directions:
1. Place
flattened liver pieces on cookie sheet. Sprinkle lightly with garlic powder and
parsley.
2. Bake at
200F for 8-10 hours or until strips are very dry (open oven door for a few minutes every few
hours to allow food to breathe).
3. Break into small pieces and store in air-tight container or freeze in an
air-tight bag.
Helpful Hint
You
may want to keep the stove exhaust fan on while cooking as these are a bit “smelly.”
But hey! The dogs love them, so it's worth it - right?
Tasty Liver Brownies
Ingredients:
2 lbs Beef
Liver (Organic is
best)
1 cup
Wheat Germ
5 cups
Whole Wheat* Flour (Buckwheat, Rice or Rye Flour can be used)
1 cup
Blackstrap
Molasses
2-3 Tbsp.
Chopped Garlic
4
Eggs
Directions:
1. Put
liver, garlic, eggs and molasses in a blender or food processor.
2. In
large bowl mix the flour with wheat germ.
3. Add wet ingredients.
4. Pour
into large flat oiled cake pan.
5. Bake at
300 degrees for 30 minutes.
6. Cool
and cut into small pieces.
These make
moist treats and can be rolled into little balls for training.
*NOTE:
These are not recommended for dogs with allergies due to the grain content.
Frozen Treats for Hot Summer Days
Ingredients:
1 carton
plain low fat yogurt (large
size)
2 Tbsp
Peanut Butter
2 bananas mashed up, or 2 big jars of baby bananas
Optional:
add 1 Tbsp honey
